APW - Waltham, American Watch Co, Model 1872, 21J, 16S, 18K gold original AWCo HC, gold cuvette engraved "Henry S. Pray from Mother, June 10th, 1880," white glass enamel SS dial with distinctive Old English AWCo signature characteristic to this grade, SW-LS, fully capped lever escapement, decorative gold disk around balance jewel setting, quilted pattern nickel damascene, s#1448946. Gross weight of assembled watch 83.5 dwt (129.9 g). An excellent example throughout of this top quality grade.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, nearly mint cosmetic mvt condition overall, bright lustrous surfaces, short fine scratch at perimeter of main plate adjacent larger winding wheel, few typical small micro-fine scratches elsewhere, larger winding wheel with two fine scratches at perimeter, larger winding wheel with a small patch of oxide and both winding wheels with some scattered small specks of oxide; flawless dial; nearly mint hands; case shows very light wear, ding to right perimeter of front, ding to band at 8, subtle shallow dent at lower left perimeter of rear, engine turning detail reduced at shoulders with portion of loss at right side of rear; tight bow, crown shows medium wear; good glass crystal.
